Challenge
Christmas at Marina Bay Sands draws returning visitors every year, and expectations rise with every season. A beautiful static installation wasn't going to cut it. We needed an experience with its own narrative arc, one that felt unmistakably Marina Bay Sands rather than a generic festive backdrop, and one that could run through the season in a live retail environment without disrupting guest flow through The Shoppes.
Solution
We looked past conventional Christmas imagery and into the brand itself, landing on two things no other property could claim. Marina Bay Sands is home to one of the world's largest teams of butlers, with a service philosophy built on a thousand small gestures. Rather than build another visual spectacle, we turned an intangible brand asset, service, into an animated performance, giving the activation a story no one else could replicate, one that could also repeat reliably, night after night, for nearly two months.
Execution
Twice each evening, Master Butler Noel and his Nutcracker Butlers came to life through animation in the Grand South Colonnade, five minutes of clockwork choreography building toward the lighting of the grand tree. The show ran for nearly two months through the festive season, giving guests at The Shoppes two chances an evening to catch it.
